Keeping the Roofing Side of a Claim in Order

An insurance claim for storm damage involves several documents, appointments and decisions, and homeowners often find the roofing portion the hardest to keep straight. Our role is to organize that portion while you stay in charge of the claim itself. It begins with a full inspection, during which we photograph hail strikes, lifted shingles and dented metal and measure each slope of the roof so quantities are accurate. That information goes into a single file, dated and sorted by slope. If you decide to file, you contact your insurer and set the adjuster appointment, and we arrange to be at the house when the adjuster arrives so someone can go over every damaged slope alongside them. After the visit, the insurer issues an estimate. We compare it against the measurements and photos, and if items such as drip edge, starter strip, ridge vents or an entire slope were left out, we prepare a supplement with supporting evidence and forward it to the carrier, who decides whether to revise the estimate. Throughout, the decisions are yours, and we do not argue your claim for you or predict what an insurer will approve. Once the claim is settled, the repair or replacement is scheduled like any other project, with the paperwork added to your closeout file.

What Goes Into the Claim File

These are the roofing pieces we prepare and track.

  • Inspection before filing

Damage confirmed and photographed so you can decide whether to file.

  • Dated photo set

Images sorted by slope with close and wide views.

  • Roof measurements

Slope areas, pitches and edge lengths recorded accurately.

  • Adjuster appointment

A roofer on site to walk the roof with your adjuster.

  • Estimate comparison

The insurer's line items checked against real quantities.

  • Supplement preparation

Missing items documented and sent to the insurer for review.

  • Plain-language summaries

Depreciation, ACV and RCV explained without the jargon.

  • Scheduled roof work

Repair or replacement booked once the claim is settled.

A Typical Claim, Start to Finish

  1. Build the file

Photos and slope measurements are gathered so everything is ready before you contact your insurer.

  2. Meet the adjuster

You set the appointment and we attend, walking every damaged slope with the adjuster.

  3. Review, supplement and schedule

Together we read the estimate. Anything missing goes back as a supplement, and the work is booked once the claim settles.
